5G को अपनाने में वृद्धि से वित्तीय वर्ष 2025 तक प्रति ग्राहक प्रति माह औसत इंटरनेट डेटा उपयोग को 28-30 गीगाबाइट (GB) तक बढ़ाने की उम्मीद है, जो वर्तमान में लगभग 20 GB है. यह ओवर-द-टॉप स्ट्रीमिंग सेवाओं को अपनाने से प्रेरित है.
CRISIL रेटिंग्स के निदेशक नवीन वैद्यनाथन ने बुधवार को एक बयान में कहा, ‘वर्तमान में, भारत में सालाना यूज होने वाले 15-17 करोड़ स्मार्टफोन में से लगभग 30-35 प्रतिशत 5G-सक्षम हैं. जबकि 5G स्मार्टफोन शिपमेंट की हिस्सेदारी में धीरे-धीरे सुधार होगा. वित्तवर्ष 2025 तक 30 करोड़ उपयोगकर्ताओं को 5G फोन चलाने पर प्रतिबंधित कर देगा. दूसरे शब्दों में, इसका मतलब यह है कि वित्त वर्ष 2025 तक देश में केवल एक तिहाई डेटा उपयोगकर्ता 5G सेवाओं से जुड़ेंगे.’

CRISIL रेटिंग्स के टीम लीडर रौनक अग्रवाल ने कहा, ‘भारत पहले से ही सबसे अधिक डेटा खपत करने वाले देशों में से एक है. 5G ओवर-द-टॉप स्ट्रीमिंग सेवाओं और ऑनलाइन गेमिंग को अपनाने में तेजी ला सकता है, जिससे डेटा की मांग और बढ़ेगी.’
उन्होंने आगे कहा, ‘नतीजतन, वर्तमान में लगभग 20 जीबी से वित्तीय वर्ष 2025 तक प्रति ग्राहक प्रति माह औसत डेटा उपयोग लगभग 28-30 जीबी तक बढ़ने की उम्मीद है. हम डेटा मांग, पोस्ट-पेड सब्सक्रिप्शन की बढ़ती हिस्सेदारी और मध्यम अवधि में एआरपीयू को लगभग 250 रुपये तक बढ़ाने वाले टैरिफ संशोधनों के कारण ग्राहकों की संख्या में वृद्धि देखते हैं.’
