Asia Cup History: गुस्सा और बदला… ऐसे शुरू हुआ था एशिया कप, पाकिस्तान ने भी दिया था भारत का साथ
एशिया कप की शुरुआत बेहद ही अनोखे अंदाज में हुई थी. इसके बारे में जानकर आप यही कहेंगे कि इसकी शुरुआत गुस्से में और बदला लेने के उद्देश्य से की गई थी. एशिया कप को शुरू करने का पूरा श्रेय बीसीसीआई के पूर्व अध्यक्ष एनकेपी साल्वे को जाता है. उन्होंने ही ACC की भी नींव रखी थी.
एशिया कप 2023 का आगाज जल्द होने वाला है. इसका पहला मैच 30 अगस्त को खेला जाएगा, जबकि फाइनल मैच 19 सितंबर को होगा. इस बार एशिया कप पाकिस्तान की मेजबानी में हाइब्रिड मॉडल के आधार पर खेला जाएगा. यानी कुल 13 में से 4 मैच पाकिस्तान में होंगे, जबकि फाइनल समेत बाकी 9 मुकाबले श्रीलंका में खेले जाएंगे.
इन सबके बीच फैन्स को सबसे ज्यादा इतंजार जिस मैच का है, वो भारत-पाकिस्तान के बीच जंग है. यह महामुकाबला 2 सितंबर को श्रीलंका के कैंडी में खेला जाएगा. यहां तक तो आपने यह जान ही लिया होगा कि एशिया कप कब और कहां खेला जाएगा.
मगर फैन्स के मन में यह सवाल जरूर होगा कि आखिर एशिया कप की शुरुआत कब, कैसे और किन हालातों में हुई होगी? यहां बता दें कि एशिया कप की शुरुआत बेहद ही अनोखे अंदाज में हुई थी. इसके बारे में जानकर आप यह भी कह सकते हैं कि इसक शुरुआत गुस्से में और बदला लेने के उद्देश्य से की गई थी.
दरअसल, एशिया कप की शुरुआत 1984 में हुई थी. हुआ ऐसा था कि भारतीय क्रिकेट कंट्रोल बोर्ड (BCCI) के अध्यक्ष एनकेपी साल्वे हुआ करते थे. विज्डन के मुताबिक साल्वे 25 जून 1983 को लॉर्ड्स में खेले वनडे वर्ल्ड कप फाइनल को स्टैंड से देखना चाहते थे. मगर तब उन्हें टिकट नहीं मिला.
गुस्से में BCCI अध्यक्ष साल्वे ने खाई कसम!
यह बात साल्वे को नागवार गुजरी और वो गुस्से से भर गए. मगर उन्होंने अपना गुस्सा कुछ अलग अंदाज में जाहिर किया. साल्वे ने यह ठान लिया कि अब वो वर्ल्ड कप को इंग्लैंड से बाहर निकालकर ही रहेंगे. यह काम इतना आसान भी नहीं था. यह बात साल्वे अच्छी तरह से जानते थे.
इसके लिए साल्वे ने पूरा जोर लगाया. उन्होंने तब पाकिस्तान क्रिकेट बोर्ड (PCB) के अध्यक्ष रहे नूर खान से बात की और उन्हें अपने साथ मिला लिया. इसके बाद श्रीलंका क्रिकेट बोर्ड (SLC) के हेड गामिनी दिसानायके को भी शामिल किया. इसके बाद 19 सितंबर 1983 को नई दिल्ली में एशियन क्रिकेट कॉन्फ्रेंस (ACC) का गठन किया गया. अब यह एशियन क्रिकेट काउंसिल है.
पाकिस्तान-श्रीलंका को मिलाकर हुई शुरुआत
भारत, पाकिस्तान और श्रीलंका के अलावा इस संस्था में बांग्लादेश, मलेशिया और सिंगापुर को भी शामिल किया. तब इनमें से सिर्फ भारत, पाकिस्तान और श्रीलंका ही ICC के पूर्ण सदस्य रहे थे. एशिया में यह ACC बनने के बाद क्रिकेट की ताकत बंट गई थी. पहले इसकी पूरी ताकत सिर्फ ICC के पास ही थी. एक तरह से कह सकते हैं कि ACC ने क्रिकेट में ICC को चुनौती देना शुरू कर दिया था.
ACC बनने के बाद उसने ICC को पहली चुनौती एशिया कप टूर्नामेंट शुरू करके दी. इस टूर्नामेंट में सिर्फ एशियाई टीमों को ही खेलने की अनुमति थी. एशिया कप का पहला सीजन 1984 में कराया गया. यह पहला सीजन वनडे फॉर्मेट में खेला गया, जिसकी मेजबानी UAE ने की थी. यह पहला सीजन भारत ने ही जीता था. तब से टीम इंडिया का ही इस टूर्नामेंट में दबदबा रहा है. ऐसे में आप कह सकते हैं कि एनकेपी साल्वे के गुस्से और बदले ने ही एशिया कप की शुरुआत की.
एशिया कप में रहा टीम इंडिया का दबदबा
एशिया कप में हमेशा ही भारतीय टीम का दबदबा रहा है. अब तक के इतिहास में एशिया कप के 15 सीजन हुए हैं, जिसमें भारतीय टीम ने सबसे ज्यादा 7 बार (1984, 1988, 1990–91, 1995, 2010, 2016, 2018) खिताब जीता है. जबकि श्रीलंका दूसरे नंबर पर है, जो 6 बार (1986, 1997, 2004, 2008, 2014, 2022) चैम्पियन रही है. पाकिस्तान दो ही बार (2000, 2012) खिताब अपने नाम कर सकी.
