उत्तरप्रदेश में लुप्तप्राय इंडियन स्किमर दिखायी दिया
बहराईच: हैबिटेट्स ट्रस्ट टीम ने हाल ही में घाघरा नदी के पास दुधवा टाइगर रिजर्व में लुप्तप्राय इंडियन स्कीमर को देखा। उसके देखे जाने की पुष्टि दुधवा बफर ज़ोन में धौराहा रेंज के अंदर घाघरा पर ज़ालिम नगर पुल से नदी के बहाव की विपरीत दिशा में 5 किलोमीटर ऊपर खींची गए इस तस्वीर द्वारा हुई। यह दृश्य, प्रवर मौर्य द्वारा फोटोग्राफिक दस्तावेज़ीकरण द्वारा समर्थित है।यहाँ पर उसके देखे जाने से स्पष्ट होता है कि बहराईच जिले में घाघरा नदी लुप्तप्राय इंडियन स्किमर का एक महत्वपूर्ण निवास स्थान है। यह इस बात का भी संकेत है कि ऊपरी क्षेत्रों में और अधिक इंडियन स्किमर पाये जाने की संभावना है।
इंडियन स्किमर एक विचित्र सा दिखने वाला पक्षी है, जिसकी चोंच आकर्षक लाल/नारंगी रंग की होती है, और निचली चोंच ऊपरी चोंच से लंबी होती है। यह नदी के पानी की सतह पर अपना मुंह खोलकर तैरता है, निचली चोंच में मछली, लार्वा और झींगा को फँसाकर खाता है। ये फरवरी और जून के बीच प्रजनन करते हैं और एक बार के प्रजनन में एक से तीन बच्चों को जन्म देते हैं। यह पक्षी लुप्तप्राय है इनका संरक्षण किए जाने की ज़रूरत है।
इस बारे में द हैबिटैट्स ट्रस्ट के वन्यजीव जीवविज्ञानी, कौशिक सरकार ने कहा, “इंडियन स्कीमर्स विलुप्त होने के ख़तरे में हैं। उन्हें प्रजनन करने और बच्चों को पालने के लिए के लिए सुरक्षित एवं अनछुई रेतीली ज़मीन चाहिए। रेत खनन, कृषि गतिविधियों, मवेशियों की आवाजाही और मानव द्वारा छेड़छाड़ से उनके प्रजनन के लिए ज़रूरी रेतीले आवास को बड़ा खतरा उत्पन्न हो गया है। आज पूरी दुनिया में 6,500 से कम इंडियन स्किमर बचे हैं।”
दुधवा टाइगर रिजर्व के फील्ड डायरेक्टर, ललित कुमार वर्मा, ने समुदाय सहभागिता को संरक्षण में बढ़ावा देने की आवश्यकता को जताया। उन्होंने इंडियन स्किमर के दिखने की खुशी जताई और वन्यजीव प्रेमियों से प्राकृतिक आवासों की पहचान और संरक्षण के लिए साथ में आने की कही।
दुधवा टाइगर रिजर्व के बफर जोन के डीएफओ, सौरीश सहाय, टीम की सराहना करते हुए कहते हैं, “मैं पूरी टीम को बधाई देता हूँ। इंडियन स्किमर के दिखने का स्थानीय नागरिकों के लिए गर्व की बात है और संरक्षण के प्रयास सफल होने का संकेत है। हमें उम्मीद है कि द हैबिटैट्स ट्रस्ट के साथ हमारे विभाग के सहयोग से इन लुप्तप्राय प्रजातियों के लिए सुरक्षित और उपयुक्त आवास की उपलब्धता सुनिश्चित करेगा।”
घाघरा नदी कई विलुप्त होती प्रजातियों का आवास है। यह उत्तर प्रदेश में लुप्तप्राय घड़ियाल और गंगा डॉल्फिन के अंतिम आवासों में से एक है। घड़ियाल और इंडियन स्किमर, दोनों ही रेतीली ज़मीन में अपना घोंसला बनाते हैं। घाघरा हिमालय की एक नदी है, जो अपनी पूरी लंबाई में कई रेत के द्वीपों के साथ इन प्रजातियों को उपयुक्त आवास प्रदान करती है।
कृषि, खनन और बैराजों से अचानक पानी छोड़े जाने से इन सैंडबारों की सुरक्षा करना इंडियन स्किमर्स को बचाने और उनके प्रजनन के लिए महत्वपूर्ण है। इन प्रजातियों के संरक्षण व सुरक्षा के गहन प्रयास करना सभी नागरिकों की सामूहिक जिम्मेदारी है।
द हैबिटैट्स ट्रस्ट प्राकृतिक आवासों की रक्षा और स्थानीय सहयोग के साथ लुप्तप्राय प्रजातियों के लिए महत्व को बढ़ावा देने के लिए प्रतिबद्ध है।
