एडब्लूएस इनकम्युनिटीज़ ने पोवाई और मलाड में जैवविविधता संरक्षण परियोजनाएं शुरू कीं
मुंबई: एमेज़ॉन वेब सर्विसेज़ (एडब्लूएस) इंडिया प्राईवेट लिमिटेड ने मुंबई के डॉ. अंबेडकर उद्यान, पोवाई में अपनी जैव विविधता संरक्षण परियोजना का उद्घाटन किया। इसके साथ मलाड के संजय गांधी नेशनल पार्क में वन क्षेत्र की बहाली की परियोजना भी चलाई जा रही है। ये परियोजनाएं एडब्लूएस इनकम्युनिटीज़ प्रोग्राम के अंतर्गत चलाई जा रही हैं, जिसका उद्देश्य एडब्लूएस के संचालन क्षेत्र के आसपास स्थित समुदायों के जीवन में सकारात्मक परिवर्तन लेकर आना है।
इन परियोजनाओं के अंतर्गत, एडब्लूएस इनकम्युनिटीज़ द्वारा गैरलाभकारी संगठन, ग्रीन यात्रा ट्रस्ट की मदद से डॉ. अंबेडकर उद्यान, पोवाई में आठ स्थानों पर 4,500 स्थानीय पौधे लगाए जा रहे हैं। इसके अलावा, संजय गांधी नेशनल पार्क में 3,500 से ज्यादा स्थानीय पौधे लगाए जा रहे हैं, जो एडब्लूएस द्वारा 2023 में लगाए गए 6,500 पौधों के अलावा हैं।
इन पौधों में औषधीय, परागण करने वाले, फूल वाले और अन्य प्रकार के पेड़ों सहित भारत की 106 स्थानीय प्रजातियाँ शामिल हैं। एक हिस्से के वृक्षारोपण में भारत के विभिन्न राज्यों के स्थानीय पेड़ लगाए जाएंगे, ताकि यहाँ देश के अलग-अलग हिस्सों की भिन्न-भिन्न प्रजातियाँ मिल सकें। यहाँ लगे पेड़ों की विस्तृत जानकारी सूचना बोर्ड द्वारा मिलेगी।
इस कार्यक्रम का उद्घाटन 15 अक्टूबर, 2024 को डॉ. अंबेडकर उद्यान में किया गया। इस कार्यक्रम में जोनाथन प्राईस, डायरेक्टर, डेटा सेंटर डिज़ाईन इंजीनियरिंग, एडब्लूएस (ऑस्ट्रेलिया), मुनीश कुमार, सीनियर डेटा सेंटर डिज़ाइन डिलीवरी मैनेजर, एडब्लूएस इंडिया एवं एडब्लूएस के अन्य नेतृत्वकर्ता मौजूद थे। कार्यक्रम के दौरान वृक्षारोपण स्थल का उद्घाटन करते हुए इस परियोजना का ब्यौरा देने वाले बोर्ड और साईन बोर्ड्स का अनावरण किया गया तथा कुछ पौधे लगाकर जैव विविधता संरक्षण परियोजना की औपचारिक शुरुआत की गई।
भारत में एडब्लूएस इनकम्युनिटीज़ प्रोग्राम के अंतर्गत चलाए जा रहे अभियान समाज के समग्र विकास पर केंद्रित हैं, जिनमें पर्यावरण और लोगों सहित संपूर्ण कल्याण शामिल है। इन अभियानों का पहली बार क्रियान्वयन महाराष्ट्र के नवी मुंबई में 2018 में किया गया, जिसके बाद 2020 में इसका विस्तार तेलंगाना के रंगारेड्डी जिले में किया गया। उसके बाद से ही एडब्लूएस इनकम्युनिटीज़ प्रोग्राम सस्टेनेबल समुदायों के विकास के लिए काम कर रहा है तथा वन्यजीवों एवं पर्यावरण के संरक्षण के लिए प्रभावशाली अभियानों का क्रियान्वयन कर रहा है, ताकि स्थानीय अर्थव्यवस्था, शिक्षा एवं स्वास्थ्य के ढांचे और अन्य मूलभूत सुविधाओं में सुधार लाया जा सके। 2022 में एडब्लूएस इनकम्युनिटीज़ द्वारा मुंबई-गोवा हाईवे के नीचे एक वन्यजीव अंडरपास का निर्माण कराया गया, ताकि वन्यजीव उसमें से होकर सुरक्षित रूप से आवागमन कर सकें। इसके अलावा, अभ्यारण्य में पर्यटन को बढ़ावा देने के लिए करनाला वन्यजीव अभ्यारण्य में सूचना बोर्ड और वाटर प्योरिफायर लगाए गए।
